Holiday Happenings +

I’ve never witnessed our Holiday Soap sell out so quickly! This is the first year in many that I’ve listed it for sale on our webshoppe, and wow—what a response! I keep a separate inventory for online orders so I can track everything, but even so, it’s been a whirlwind. The same thing is happening at the shop—bars are flying off the shelves!

As a soap maker going on three decades, I take it personally when we sell out and customers miss the opportunity to share these lovely bars with friends and family. It’s simply the nature of handmade, and those four words—we sell out fast—have never been truer. I’m truly blown away by the enthusiasm and online orders for this collection. Thank you!

After all these years, I’ve learned there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to prepare for the holiday season—just long, joyful days of prepping, wrapping, and gearing up for my favorite time of year.

Ah, Mrs. Ruddy’s Pumpkin Bread—it’s that time again! This aromatic, rich pumpkin treat is one of my fall traditions, and you can find the recipe in my cookbook along with a few other beloved receipts (the old-fashioned word for recipes—look it up if you’re curious!).

Between batches of soap, I even took a break to plant garlic. I’m growing the Chesnok Red variety this year, known for its slightly spicier, more robust flavor. I tried last fall, but the squirrels dug up every single bulb! This time, I’ve covered them, so we’ll see what happens. Garlic can be a little tricky from what I’ve read, but I’m not one to give up. That’s how I learned to make soap all those years ago—long before the Internet was much help.

I’ll be back at the shop tomorrow, and rest assured, it’s stocked with your favorite Bittersweets. I’ve been working all week making fresh batches of everything that sold out. I could include a list, but I won't.

Keep the faith.
Jill
