The Art of Renewel

One of the things I love most about the arrival of spring is how it ushers in new ideas and fresh inspiration. Spending more time outdoors and away from the screen is always a welcome change. Tidying up, planting flowers, and making little upgrades have long been part of what spring means to me.

As we move closer to warmer days here in the Midwest, I’m eager to take on home projects and tackle tasks that are new now, but will soon become familiar. My cooking changes with the season, too—fresh garden lettuce, radishes, and garlic to be harvested in June. Seeds are stacked and waiting to be scattered into the moist earth, while the soil is turned and prepared for a brand new growing season.

That is what spring means to me: renewal in many forms, and the deep satisfaction that comes from tending to those things.

The studio is buzzing with spring energy as well. New soaps are curing, and a full tidying of the workspace is on the horizon. Fresh jars of this and that. Bottles of this and that. Boxes stacked with orders waiting for their Bittersweet sticker. Tissue paper is ready to be pulled for packing. Tape guns hanging nearby. All the daily motions and familiar rhythms that come naturally in a soap maker’s space.

Spring is the perfect time to spread your wings and try new things. I've learned that failures lead to successes, so if something doesn't turn out the first time, there's always a second chance.
Enjoy the season.
