We’re noticing an early wave of holiday shoppers this year, and it’s already shifting the rhythm of the shop. Today, I’m making soap—something that wasn’t even on my to-do list—but the countdown has begun, and this soap maker can clearly see the writing on the wall… or in this case, the rapidly disappearing bars.

The next three days will be devoted entirely to soap making as I prepare for the busiest season of the year: gift-giving time. I’ve always believed that a bar of Bittersweet isn’t just soap. Each one carries a soulful story, a touch of craftsmanship, and the joy of giving something truly special—something not everyone finds under the tree or tucked into a stocking, but when they do, they remember.

That feeling is what has built Bittersweet for nearly three decades. If what you create by hand doesn’t hold its own uniqueness and deliver real results, it can easily disappear into the crowd. But when you craft something you believe in—something you personally use and swear by—others begin to notice. They experience the difference for themselves, and that’s how a loyal customer base is formed.

Without repeat customers, staying afloat becomes difficult. Even with the wonderful opportunities Bittersweet has been blessed with over the years—national television features, Hollywood shout-outs, and more—none of it matters if the product itself doesn’t stand out. In a crowded marketplace, authenticity and quality are everything.

And that’s exactly what keeps me pouring, curing, and creating—bar after bar.

Warmly,

Jill

For the past few years I've been drawn to these ceramic houses during the holidays. They're inexpensive and perfect for a mantle or table.

Every year I say that I'm going to retire the Soap + Lip Balm Gift Crates, and every year I realize just how special these handcrafted sets really are. A practical gift, but also a pampering one too. Ideal for family, friends, teacher's, mail carriers, bus drivers, etc. By the way, we'll have a limited number of these available on our website and shop since we'll eventually run out of holiday soaps. If you've already snatched up some, good job!

I shared this already, but I feel like it's a great recipe to serve on Thanksgiving. I'm going to be making it! I can't recall who sent me a complimentary copy of Food Network Magazine, but thank you.
